The food is very good but they need to have combo plates. I had three ala carte tacos, one pollo, one al pastor and one barbacoa. Each was very good but I would have been just as happy with two tacos with rice and beans. My wife had the shrimp cocktail that was very good but it had been Americanized and not what you ever find in Mexico.

This place will officially be in my rotation from now on. Clean, bright, cheerful atmosphere with vibrant decor. The food is from scratch and you can tell it's prepared with love and pride. To start the meal they offer a bowl of noodle soup, not the typical chips and salsa. I understood why when we ordered the Ursula's dip as an appetizer. Friends, their chips are homemade and utterly delicious. The dip was a complete game changer! I have never had anything like it in my travels and it was amazing. I ordered a variety of tacos; cecina, pastor and lengua. My husband had the enchiladas with red sauce and a chicken tinga tostada. My tacos came undressed with street style sides of onion, cilantro and lime which I appreciate so much. The corn tortillas are homemade and beautifully toasted. The Al Pastor taco is the best I've had in the USA. So packed with flavor and tender, it was just incredible. My husbands enchiladas dish was huge, the sauce was homemade and they used those beautiful tortillas to make the dish. The chicken tinga is FABULOUS. Our waitress was attentive, kind and informed us of the weekly special upon arrival. When we were finishing our meal a member of the staff came to speak with us to make sure we were satisfied with the service and quality. He informed us that the specials change weekly and that they offer drink specials as well. Overall, I love this place. The whole experience was like getting a big hug from your Tia. Go check it out.

This place was a breath of fresh air for Lexington. I’ve been waiting for a unique Mexican restaurant close to home, and this beautiful place delivered on taste, decor & service. I was actually quite pleased they did not have the usual ‘free’ chips & salsa but a tasty dip with my favorite type of crackers. If you come here seeking the usual Mexican fare, go elsewhere. Their menu is outside of the box, just what this town needs.

Visiting my grandad here in Lexington and he wanted to come here. Both of our first time. This is the best authentic Mexican food I have ever had. The chips are off the chain. I am not a fan of your typical Tex-mex and many other Mexican restaurants. I am very loyal to the one in my hometown. However, I would LOVE to have this place where I live. Oh, and the customer service is amazing.

I took my wife to El Amanacer tonight and was pleasantly surprised. I read the reviews online before going so I knew it was not a typical "Mexican Restaurant" but I didn't really know what to expect. The food was exceptional, I had the pork ribs with rice and beans, and we had steak nachos. Everything was made from scratch and it tasted good. The portions were plenty big and I left there with a great experience. There weren't a log of people there but it wasn't the food. I would love to make more people aware of this great place! They had fresh fruit juice drinks that I really liked. The fresh mango fruit juice was great (I liked the pineapple and lime as well). Fresh, natural, and flavorful. I'll be back!

This restaurant is run by family-friendly individuals. The customers are treated with warmth and kindness, as if they are family. El Amanecer isn’t your typical SC ‘chips, and salsa’ type Mexican restaurant. It has a ‘homey’ vibe in which the food and people make you feel at home. I’ve only been here twice with my friend and the staff treats us very well. I tried the tacos recently which were really good and definitely tasted like my Mexican grandma whipped it up (I don’t have a Mexican grandma). In fact, I’m very positive the tortillas were made from scratch on the spot! Overall, the prices are affordable and the food tastes homemade, which may be an acquired taste for some. I recommend everyone give this place a go.

Love this place. Authentic Mexican cuisine, when you order they start preparing from SCRATCH. Awesome food and friendly stuff and the decorations are beautiful and let me just say that the bathroom smells like a spring afternoon in your botanical garden with it’s proper sitting/waiting area. And if you just want to go for a drink after a hard work day this is your place the bar area is packed with the best liquor out there. 100 percent recommend
